It’s not my goal to deliver a pretty soundscape of musical performance. This is medicine work.

Nor do I design or plan experiences for the sake of peak intensity (though such moments are not uncommon).

My job as a certified sound therapist is to offer a dynamic and responsive sonic experience: an interactive immersion that your nervous system can safely navigate and integrate.

Intentional sound is a catalyst for change and transformation - a prompt for your own healing from within. My sound invites you into and beyond a ‘nice’ experience.

I’ll be reading the room, listening and responding to you and your body. We dance with and shift energies as we go. It does not always make ‘logical’ sense.

You are grounded before you leave; not left in an altered state of consciousness.

This is why my private sessions and small groups have such an impact.

They are tailored to you in the moment - shared with care, within a framework but unscripted; harnessing intuition but anchored in professional training.

The potent pause is an important feature of my sessions. Silence and transitions are golden. This is where the magic happens.

‘Sound healers’ who don’t know or practice with this awareness are untrained and/or egoic amateurs.

BEFORE We tune in with a conversation - a little diagnostic chat. We peel back the layers to find what’s deeply present. Then we play with words to set the unique intention your body says ‘yes’ to. This intention guides how the session unfolds.

DURING Then you just lie down and listen. Your nervous system will retune and recalibrate as I use voice for guided meditation and chanting. I’ll also play instruments on or around you - gongs, tuning forks, drums, singing bowls and more.

A sound therapy session is a dynamic conversation of deep listening with the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual parts of you.

There are moments of stillness and silence. Your cells and systems will re-pattern as you relax, release or re-energise.

You might have dreamscape visions. You might fall asleep or release emotions. Each experience and every time is unique.

AFTER Grounding and integration time, then we share a debrief cuppa, so you can ask any questions. I can catch your stories and experience, and also make sure you’re not too sound stoned to drive.

Exactly how often and what type of sessions will depend on where you’re at, how deep you are prepared to go, and also your wellbeing and budget priorities.

For general relaxation and wellbeing I recommend group sessions, at least monthly.

If you’ve got a bit going on, monthly 1:1 sessions could be useful to move you through and support the process.

Come more regularly when you’re ready for deeper work or need nervous system support in times of upheaval and uncertainty.

Generally allow at least two weeks between sessions so you can recalibrate and integrate before the next dose.

Yes. Trained sound healing practitioners respect the power of sound and tune in to energies of the room and your body systems so we can offer tailored, responsive treatment.

I have a Diploma from the Sound Healing Academy, yoga sound mantra training, and IICT insurance for sound therapy. I continue to develop skills - weaving intuition, intellect and intention; all underpinned by a robust framework.

Sound healing can be absolutely enjoyable, but it’s not designed for performance or entertainment. It’s natural medicine (sometimes that line gets blurry out there in the world).

Sound healing is a growing but unregulated industry (which has pros and cons). I encourage you to ask any person sharing sound how they are qualified and trauma-informed. Check if their sessions provide space/time for grounding or integration after your state has been altered.

Sound is powerful, and our human systems can be overwhelmed by the noise and busyness of the modern world. If you’re sensitive you do not want an untrained ‘sound healer’ to trigger or overwhelm your systems. You want someone attuned and who understands how to use titration to support you to repattern.

It can be confusing. Different people call practices different things. But no, you don’t need bathers for a sound bath!

Sound therapy is what I call my 1:1 and couples sessions because we do deep, targeted work.

Sound meditations are what I share with groups. While these sessions are designed to be less intense, that is not always how humans experience them.

Group meditations are cheaper. Some people like groups as a taster or for regular maintenance. Others prefer the privacy and intimacy of sound therapy to explore and express.

Each option takes you on a journey of insight; immersed or bathed in sound, and it meets you where you’re at in the moment.

Healing is what you do. I witness you and share practices that activate your body’s natural intelligence and movement towards vitality.

A sound healing session is like an all-over tune-up that re-calibrates you system-wide. And, you don’t just hear with your ears.

Sound vibrations activate circadian biological processes and entrain your brain to shift frequencies, which has positive physiological flow on effects, including heart rate, stress levels, and vagal tone.

In altered states of consciousness you relax and feel safe so your systems get to regulate and recalibrate. This creates space and energy to do natural repair and healing work - homeostasis - right down to the cellular and sub-atomic parts of you.

Sound should be adjusted during pregnancy (especially first trimester), if you have epilepsy, a pacemaker or brain stim device.

Let me know if you recently had surgery, if your body has metallic implants, an open wound, breaks or fractures, tumours, deep vein thrombosis or carthoid atherosclerosis.

Your nervous system can be triggered by the stimulus. Emotional trauma might surface for release.

Choose someone who is responsive to you and not performing sound with a script. Best to avoid untrained, inexperienced ‘healers’ as sound is a powerful medium.

There’s often a 24-48 hour window of recalibration after the session itself. Give yourself time and space to integrate and work with the medicine rather than resist or override your body’s wisdom.

It sure does. There’s scientific evidence, cultural history, experiential proof and treatment protocols.
